Taken from the Wily Bo Walker solo album ‘Moon Over Indigo’, Wily Bo downshifts and tears his heart out on this jazzy torch song while trumpeter Kenny Rampton (Ray Charles, Mingus Big Band) reflects Walker's pain in sorrowful tones with the Cenovia Cummins String Quartet providing an authentic backdrop to the melodrama
Along with 'Long Way to Heaven' this is one of Wily Bo Walker's signature songs highlighting the passion in his vocal performances.
Sourced from the original Hi-Res 24bit Master Recording from Abbey Road

lyrics
IF THIS IS THE LAST TIME I’LL SEE YOU
YOU’D BETTER LEAVE
SO MANY THINGS IN THIS OLD WORLD
LEFT TO SEE
I KNOW YOUR PLANS
WELL THEY NO LONGER INCLUDE ME
SPREAD YOUR WINGS, LITTLE ANGEL,
FLY AWAY FROM ME…
AND SAY GOODBYE
SAY GOODBYE TO ME
THESE AREN’T TEARS IN MY EYES
I AIN’T LONELY TONIGHT
JUST SAY GOODBYE
TO ME
THERE’S A MOON OVER INDIGO
A WAVE ON THE DEEP BLUE SEA
A DIAMOND SNAKE WRAPPED AROUND MY SOUL
DEEP INSIDE OF ME
YOU HAVE YOUR DREAMS
I HAVE MY OWN PAIN TO RELIEVE
SPREAD YOUR WINGS, LITTLE ANGEL,
FLY AWAY FROM ME…
AND SAY GOODBYE
SAY GOODBYE TO ME
THESE AREN’T TEARS IN MY EYES
I AIN’T LONELY TONIGHT
JUST SAY GOODBYE
TO ME
PAINT YOUR DREAMS CRIMSON
COLOUR ALL YOUR MEMORIES
SOMEDAY BABY
CLOSE YOUR EYES
AND THINK OF ME
WITH THE MOON OVER INDIGO
THIS IS THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE
SPREAD YOUR WINGS, LITTLE ANGEL,
FLY AWAY FROM ME…
AND SAY GOODBYE
SAY GOODBYE TO ME
THESE AREN’T TEARS IN MY EYES
I AIN’T LONELY TONIGHT
JUST SAY GOODBYE
TO ME

I've purchased a fair few HDC albums now (and listened to the rest). Difficult to truly pick a stand out as all excellent, raw blues - but if pushed this one is my favourite. The song writing is first class throughout. It's maybe even slightly lighter in feel than some of the others, but this is still dirty af;) knightd68
