"you won't read that book again
Because the ending's just too hard to take…"
This is a song which, upon first hearing, evoked the same feelings in me as Gordon Lightfoot’s ‘If You Could Read My Mind’
I was introduced to this song by my good friend, Danny Flam, who has played on and produced tracks for the song's writer, Kathy Ingraham
Kathy's words resonated with me and I laid down this track in my studio in a series of one-takes so what you hear is my interpretation
as fresh as my ears initially heard this song. I just followed the muse and the track evolved itself. But I also heard something else
so I called up a friend, the world renowned pedal steel player BJ Cole, and he has added his beautiful playing to the song
Available as Hi Res Audio 24Bit 96khz FLAC or WAV download as well as regular MP3 etc
PRESS REVIEWS:
5 Star Review:
"Dark, melancholy and unremitting, it is an almost perfect ‘lost love’ ballad.
Walkers vocals are perfect, deep and soulful with his usual granite gruffness on the very ragged edge of breaking up. BJ Cole’s pedal steel a perfect accompaniment with its keening tone and lonely tones.
The rest of the playing is soft and understated and all you really have is Walker’s vocal set against the pedal steel.
Wily Bo Walker is one of Britain’s most prolific gems and among many great songs, this ranks up there as one of his best.", Andy Snipper, Music News
