'Light at the End of the Tunnel' by Wily Bo Walker and Kareña K
Taken from the album ‘A Long Way From Heaven’, Walker leaves no stone unturned and digs even deeper bringing his best Tom Waits on this, the whisky drenched blues of desperation 'Light at the End of the Tunnel'. A track that shows how low a man can fall before reaching breaking point.
A smouldering late-night soulful blues, it features Keith Mack on guitar and, from The Wily Bo Walker Band, Clarky on bass and E D Brayshaw on drums and hammond.
This is the full length album version release of 'Light At The End Of The Tunnel', a Wily Bo interpretation of an original Kareña K composition
…a lot of bourbon went in to the recording of this track!!!

Said of this track:
"…over nearly six minutes, theirs is an exemplary vocal fusion of soulful collaboration, which, best of all, sounds spontaneous and heartfelt!" David Innes - Blues and More Again
"A slow burner that just oozes style with some sympathetic guitar cutting through the vocals!" John Knighton - Fatea Magazine
lyrics
IT TOOK ME YEARS
AT THE BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE
WHEN YOU WALKED ON OUT
TEN GODDAMN YEARS
AT THE BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE
WHEN YOU WALKED ON OUT
YOU DIDN’T KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING
DIDN’T KNOW YOU WOULD BE SCREWING
WITH MY MIND
YOU’RE SO UNKIND
LED ME RIGHT BACK DOWN THAT ROAD
THAT ROAD SO LONG CLOSED
AND THE LIGHT
AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
JUST WENT OUT
WELL I THOUGHT YOU KNEW ME
BUT YOU WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS
TO ME, IF YOU DID
I THOUGHT YOU KNEW ME BUT
YOU WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS TO ME
LORD IF YOU DID
I PUT ALL THAT STUFF BEHIND ME
NEVER THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD FIND ME
BUT IT’S HERE
OH LORD IT’S HERE
THAT OLD FEELING’S BACK AGAIN
WITH A WHOLE NEW CROWD OF FRIENDS
AND THE LIGHT
AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
JUST WENT OUT
IT JUST WENT OUT…
WELL I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND
BUT ALL GOOD THINGS HAVE TO END
THEN THEY DID
YES THEY DID
I DON’T WANT YOUR SYMPATHY
I’M JUST GETTING BACK TO ME
AND THE LIGHT
AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
JUST WENT OUT

I've purchased a fair few HDC albums now (and listened to the rest). Difficult to truly pick a stand out as all excellent, raw blues - but if pushed this one is my favourite. The song writing is first class throughout. It's maybe even slightly lighter in feel than some of the others, but this is still dirty af;) knightd68
